The Brief

The Freelands Foundation supports artists and cultural institutions to broaden audiences for the visual arts. Freelands required a space that would allow them to host the public, educators and art practitioners at their London gallery space, to showcase Art from across the UK. Works included an extensive CAT A and CAT B refurbishment over 3 floors in the historic Chalk Farm building, situated in the prime location, Primrose Hill.

The Outcome

Works included strip-out, demolitions, builders works, Cat A and B finishes, with removal and installation of new windows and façade. New roof-lights, removal of staircase, infill voids and a newly relocated staircase was constructed. New structural steel works were added with timber joists, external roof works, full M&E exposed services and soundproofed walls to 55db with acoustic linings. It was completed with a high end fit-out with moveable sliding Crittall style partitions, bespoke joinery, feature lighting and cork board ceiling detail. New tea point & WC’s with decoration and art features throughout.
