The Brief
Fit-out in the iconic Grade II listed Heal’s Building for McGarryBowen who specialise in advertising and media. It was imperative that the workspace was collaborative and dynamic, to suit the creative needs of this business. Stanway had to improve the connectivity and integration between the buildings three compartments and overcome quality differences between the workspaces to unify them.
The Outcome
A new staircase was built at the junction of the three compartments to create a central zone for chance interactions. The staircase also doubled up as a bookcase. Other works included double-height space in the social hub with flexible touchdown tables, informal meeting booths, exposed services, feature lighting, acoustic works, reception and a tea-point. Key features also include a writeable wall which can be opened to create a larger collaborative space between the meeting room and the open plan office, raw timber flooring and splashes of vibrant colour which contrast with the whitewash exposed brickwork to create a dynamic meet and greet space.
